New EHS -- A Vision to Behold

Progress on the new Elyria High School is moving steadily along. This week the district's architectural firm, Architectural Vision Group, released drawings depicting the elevations of the new Elyria High.

The drawings illustrate views from Middle Avenue, Seventh Street and West Avenue, highlighting the historic Washington Building, the new building's academic wing, performing arts center and the media center.

From the drawings, one can see that the predominant structure is the Washington Building, which serves as the "jewel in the ring," according to Andrejs Smiltars, AVG principal designer.

The drawings signal a critical phase in design; the point at which building locations, classroom spaces, floorplan and elevations take shape on paper. At this point in the schematic design phase, the building is still a work in progress, and soon the community will have an opportunity to weigh in.

Demolition work continues at the site and can be viewed in real-time by clicking the link at the left of the page.

Stay tuned to the Elyria Schools Education Station, Channel 98, or to this site for further information.
